Dai-Cast 068 - What’s a Hygrometer?

Dai-Cast

Hygrometers! Yes, this week is all about the measurement of airborn humidity!
NO!
This week we bring you as usual, our cornucopia of pop culture topics of and about Japan! Included, but not limited to new marketing techniques for bands, ripped off from Japan. Then we look at the Melancholy of Suzumiya Haruhi dubs’ perversion of that particular marketing technique. Also, it’s time for a public service announcement; smell like a flaming monkey or dirty little boy with Crayon Shin-Chan and Pokemon cologne, and warn you of upcoming high priced Katamari downloads. And we give yet more warnings, vending machines may not be what they seem in Japan. Plus, now you see it, now you don’t; magic teleportation lockers leave your goods secure, and shipped straight from your vacation spot to your door. And of course, Beej’s patented web-comic of the week.

We touch on the Wikipedia hullabaloo over control of the Gundam Ministry, with a quick look at Japanese life insurance plans. Aaaaannnndddd… We go on and on about the split between ADV and Geneon, degrading into our usual rant on the bad new-media practices of the Anime industry, and the rest of the world… Then we remember Duel Love, the answer to the little girl witch touching game, Doki Doki Mahou Shinpan. And we wrap things up with a discussion on the end of “School Days”.
So put on your mask, listen in, and enjoy this special contagious Dai-Cast. Just make sure to wash your hands afterwards…

Dai-Cast

This week, we’re introducing a new monthly feature; “Dai Cast Zeta”, where whe pick one particular topic on Japan or Japanese pop culture, and stick with it, exhaustivly expressing our opinions for your education, elucidation, emancipation, and mental emolument. And hopefully, summarily beat it into the ground, so that we never need to revisit the topic again.

First up on Dai-Cast Zeta, the recent turmoil surrounding the departure of former Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, his supposed replacement Taro Aso, and the eventual “winner” of this race, Yasuo Fukuda.

So sit back, and prepare to be educated at!
