Broadcasting to you from the crystal gondola in the palatial main tiltyhouse studios in beautiful downtown Noda Japan, for the education, elucidation, emancipation, enlightenment and mental emolument of the nipponistic hoi-polloi.Or in plain speak, Dai-Cast is a weekly podcast, highlighting our favourite topics from Japan, and Japanese pop culture.
The Dai-Cast Crew
Ian Horner
Ian is the founder of Dai-Cast and tiltyhouse. From inside the crystal gondola of the palatial main tiltyhouse studios in Noda Japan, he is the man who oversees the daily operations of all things tiltyhouse. When he is not hard at work, he is enjoying a gin martini and waxing poetic over the latest contemporary literature. Never attempt to engage Ian in a game of online Tetris. You are guaranteed to fail. Ian is currently injesting mass amounts of the spice in order to become the next Kwisatz Haderach. If you’d like to drink his milkshake, you can follow his random exploits at tumbling, fumbling along…
Jason Hill

In addition to co-hosting Dai-Cast, Jason is in charge of advertising and promotion for all of the podcasts at tiltyhouse. He currently lives in Hachimantai Japan and enjoys photography and composing music. Jason brings his experience and language talents to the show and has a passion for international exchange and Japanese culture. He also is an avid fan of Ice Hockey and contributes to the domination of Morioka over all of Iwate prefecture. You can follow his adventures at Launching over Japan.
Brendan “Beej” Dery

Aside from being the cornerstone of Dai-Casts off the wall comedy, “Beej” makes no contribution to the ‘cast, other than the dulcet tones of the voice he loves so much. As longtime listeners of the ‘cast will tell you, he is rarely content to let a good opinion go unexpressed. His position is not without merit though, he’s also studied Japanese history and literature. Beej someday hopes to visit Japan, simply to see exactly how wrong he’s been about everything you hear him say on a semi-weekly basis. Beej also enjoys playing guitar, watching anime, performing improv comedy, and keeping abreast of the political situation in North America. A certain Japanese video game company long ago earned his undying love, and he’s also recently expressed an interest in fine German automobiles.
Eryn Dearden

Eryn is was born with the gift of an amazing voice, which she graciously lends to the show. She is always quick with a joke and she’ll light up your smoke, Eryn’s knowledge of Anime music is so vast, it might actually rival her Japanese counterparts; versed in music from the late sixties all the way to the present. You can sample that knowledge at Anime Utahime as host of her very own anime music podcast. Just don’t challenge her to a game of anime music trivia. You’ll be sure to lose. They don’t call her the anime uta-hime for nothing.
Christine Fisher

Christine Fisher is the weight that drags Dai-Cast down, and in the best way possible. As the least japanophilic of the crew, she anchors us squarely in the real world, keeping us from getting too far from our mandate of bringing you the best of japan from a western perspective. Chris is also a veteran podcaster in her own right, and a driving force in the promotion and public education of child-free lifestyles. You can listen to her smart, well reasoned opinions and reporting over at the Adult Space Child Free Podcast.
Dan Ross

Dan is one of the founding fathers of Dai-Cast, and like a founding father, he’s basically dead to us. But as often as his busy life allows, he rides to us atop the Yamanote Lines of the internet like an undead Japanese Black Prime Minister, to bring us his own unique rail-based views on the weekly topics. You can follow Dan’s domestic adventures over at his own blog Pocky.org.
